Welcome to Paw Guider. I want to be upfront with you about something important: your privacy genuinely matters to me. This page explains, in plain language, what information is collected when you visit this site, how it's used, and what choices you have. I've tried to write this in a way that's actually readable — not just a wall of legal text that nobody gets through.

The short version: I don't sell your data, I don't build profiles on individual visitors, and I collect only what's needed to keep this site running and improving. That's the whole story.
1. Who's Behind This Site
Paw Guider is a personal, independent pet care blog. It's run by one person — me — and it exists to share practical, honest pet care advice with anyone who needs it. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or anything related to how your data is handled, you can reach me through the Contact page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
2. What Information Is Collected
There are two ways information gets collected on this site — things you provide directly, and things that are collected automatically in the background.
What you provide directly: The only time you actively hand over any information is when you use the Contact form. When you do that, I receive your name and the content of your message. I use that purely to reply to you — nothing else. I don't add you to mailing lists, share your details with anyone, or use that information for any other purpose.
What's collected automatically: Like pretty much every website on the internet, PawGuider automatically collects some basic technical information when you visit — things like your IP address, what browser and device you're using, what page referred you here, which pages you visited, and roughly how long you spent on them. This information is collected in anonymized, aggregated form. It doesn't identify you as an individual, and it's used only to help me understand how the site is being used so I can keep improving it.
3. Cookies and Tracking
Paw Guider uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to help the site function and to understand how it's being used. Here's what's actually in use:
Essential cookies: These are the basic cookies that keep the site working properly. They don't collect personal information and can't be turned off without breaking core functionality.
Analytics cookies: I use Google Analytics to see anonymous, aggregated data about how visitors interact with the site — which articles get the most traffic, how people navigate around, where visits come from, and so on. None of this data can identify you personally. If you'd prefer not to be included in Google Analytics tracking, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Advertising cookies: PawGuider displays ads through Google AdSense. Google uses cookies to show ads that are relevant to your interests, based on your browsing activity on this and other sites. Affiliate cookies: Some links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one, the affiliate provider may place a cookie on your device to track whether a qualifying purchase is made. These cookies are managed entirely by the affiliate provider under their own privacy policies — I don't have access to or control over them.

Paw Guider uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. This is one of the ways the site is supported so it can stay free to read. When you visit, Google may use cookies and similar tools to collect information about your browsing in order to show you relevant ads.

5. Affiliate Links
Some links on Paw Guider are affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small commission if you click through and make a purchase — at no extra cost to you. When you follow one of these links to a third-party site, that site's own privacy policy applies. I don't have any control over what they collect or how they handle it, so it's worth checking their policies if that's something you care about.
6. How I Use the Information
The information collected through this site is used in these specific ways — and only these ways:
To run and improve the site: Anonymized analytics data helps me understand what's working, what people are finding useful, and where I can do better.
To reply to messages: When you contact me, I use what you've shared only to respond to your question or concern. I don't keep that information longer than necessary.
To show ads: Advertising cookies allow Google AdSense to display relevant ads, which helps keep the site running and free to access.
To comply with the law: In rare circumstances, I may be legally required to disclose certain information. I'll only do so when genuinely compelled and will be as transparent as the law allows.

I don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Full stop. The only situations in which information is shared are:
Service providers: I use Google Analytics and Google AdSense to help run this site. They receive only the information needed to do their specific jobs, and they operate under their own privacy policies and applicable data protection laws.
Legal requirements: If I'm ever legally required to disclose information — by law, court order, or a regulatory authority — I'll comply, but only to the extent required.
Business changes: In the unlikely event this site is sold or transferred, information may move as part of that process. If that ever happens, I'd post a notice here before it takes effect.
8. Your Rights (Including GDPR)
If you're based in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have specific rights under GDPR — including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, as well as the right to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you feel your data has been mishandled.
To exercise any of these rights, just reach out through the Contact page. I'll respond within 30 days as required, and may need to verify your identity before processing certain requests.
Even if you're not in the EU, I try to apply the same spirit of transparency and respect to everyone who visits this site.
9. How Long Data Is Kept
Contact form submissions are kept only as long as needed to respond to your message, plus a reasonable window in case there's any follow-up. I don't hold onto them indefinitely. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard data retention settings.
10. Children's Privacy
Paw Guider is a general audience site and isn't aimed at children under 13. I don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age. If you're a parent or guardian and think your child may have submitted information through this site, please get in touch through the Contact page and I'll remove it promptly.
11. Security
I take reasonable steps to protect this site and any information submitted through it from unauthorized access or misuse. That said, no system connected to the internet is completely immune to risk. I do what I can on my end, but I'd also encourage you to take sensible precautions on yours — like not sharing sensitive personal information through general contact forms.
12. External Links
Paw Guider links to other websites from time to time — product pages, veterinary resources, and other useful references. Once you leave this site, the privacy policy of wherever you've gone applies — not mine. I have no control over external sites and can't be responsible for how they handle your data. It's always worth checking the privacy policy of any site before you share personal information with them.
13. Updates to This Policy
If this Privacy Policy changes — because of updates to how the site works, new services I start using, or changes in applicable law — I'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top of the page. If something changes significantly, I'll try to make that clear. Continuing to use Paw Guider after any update means you're okay with the revised policy.
